An overnight response, with a human dimension
Binance co-founder Yi He worked through the night alongside hundreds of colleagues during the exchange’s response to its security incident, according to Changpeng Zhao’s October 30 post on X. Zhao, known as CZ, described her as pregnant while crediting the wider workforce’s efforts.
His account offered a glimpse of the people responding to the crisis, beyond wallet movements and technical updates. He said Yi He had “pulled an all nighter, along side hundreds of Binancians,” and thanked industry peers, including competitors, for their assistance. The overnight account is CZ’s public statement, not an independently reconstructed record of her working hours.
Pregnancy was already a public disclosure
The personal detail had been shared before the incident, including in Yi He’s own October 6 public post. In an October 6 report of her public AMA, TechFlow quoted Yi He saying she was pregnant again and that her daily workload had not decreased. Sina Technology reported her announcement on October 10, also describing a subsequent social-media post about the pregnancy.
That chronology matters: reporting her public disclosure is different from drawing conclusions about someone’s health from their appearance. The available statements do not establish how the overnight work affected her health, and there is no basis here for speculating about that.
Her own message focused on security
In the post CZ quoted, Yi He thanked the community and said a security scan was under way to protect funds held on the platform. Her language described a collective operation rather than claiming personal credit for freezing assets.
In a later October 30 update, she said withdrawals would be enabled once the security scan was complete. That was a condition for reopening, not confirmation that access had already been restored. Neither post supplied a completed recovery report.
Recognizing the work without overstating the outcome
There is a human story in continuing to communicate with customers while colleagues handle an urgent incident. There is also a reporting boundary: praise for an executive’s effort should not replace evidence of results. Frozen assets are not necessarily returned assets, and public reassurance is not a transaction record.
The supported account is of Yi He participating in an overnight team response and communicating security priorities. Claims that she personally retrieved customer money or executed particular freezes would require additional evidence identifying those actions. The next meaningful milestones are verified restoration of access, documented recovery results and a clear explanation of what happened.
