Binance estimates that its security incident affected about $6.3 billion, with roughly $3 billion frozen onchain, according to its October 30 incident update. These are the exchange’s evolving estimates, not a final net-loss calculation.
Latest service update: deposits normal, withdrawals paused
In a newer service update, Binance said deposits continue normally, while withdrawals remain paused during a security revamp of the withdrawal service and related addresses. The exchange expects to resume within 48 hours, but that is a stated expectation rather than a guaranteed reopening deadline.

This latest notice supersedes the earlier announcement describing a temporary suspension of both deposits and withdrawals. Readers should use the newer operational status rather than repeat the earlier restriction as current.
Issuers confirm their own freeze actions
Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire said more than 800 million USDC associated with the potential exploit had been frozen in coordination with law enforcement. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino separately reported freezing more than 1.567 billion USDT related to the incident. Those issuer updates were snapshots, not additional amounts to stack on top of Binance’s later aggregate.
Frozen funds are not yet a final recovery result
Preventing further movement, returning assets and settling customer balances are distinct steps. Subtracting the two headline estimates would not establish a verified net loss: the eventual outcome depends on recoveries, valuation and the investigation. The Token Press has not independently audited the affected assets or customer balances.
What readers should watch
The next useful milestones are a confirmed withdrawal reopening, a reconciled recovery figure and a detailed explanation of the security failure. Account holders should check dated official notices and avoid treating a social-media claim as an instruction to move funds.
