Alpha trading paused as a security measure

Binance temporarily suspended Alpha trading during its security response, an October 29 notice said. Published at 23:06 UTC, it tied resumption to resolving the security issue rather than a fixed deadline.

The notice listed CEX Buy Token, Alpha instant and exchange-funded prediction-market purchases using spot-wallet funds. Binance said customer funds remained safe. Co-founder Yi He quote-posted the announcement minutes later.

What Binance Alpha does

Binance Alpha is designed to feature early-stage crypto projects. Its official product documentation explains that Alpha 2.0 brings access to those tokens into the Binance Exchange interface while Alpha also remains available through Binance Wallet.

The exchange-integrated product lets users purchase tokens through on-chain markets using supported exchange-account funds, rather than first creating a separate on-chain wallet or withdrawing to an external address. That connection between exchange balances and on-chain purchases helps explain why the notice's references to specific purchase functions matter.

Binance also says inclusion on Alpha does not guarantee a future exchange listing or constitute an endorsement of a project's prospects. Alpha access and a conventional Binance Spot listing are therefore not interchangeable descriptions. The FAQ says users can find featured tokens in an Alpha tab under Markets, with project information and price charts available on individual token pages.

Do not confuse Alpha timing with withdrawals

A later service update from Yi He, published October 30 at 04:17 UTC, said deposits remained unaffected and that the team expected to begin resuming withdrawals within 48 hours while enhancing withdrawal services and related address controls.

That estimate concerned withdrawals. It was not an announced deadline for restarting Alpha trading. The Alpha notice instead linked resumption to resolving the security issue; it also should not be read as an announcement that every Binance spot market had stopped trading.

What remains to be confirmed

Product access and withdrawal access are separate questions for users following the response. A change to one does not automatically establish the status of the other; subsequent notices need to identify the affected service.
