[São Paulo, Brazil] – December 17, 2025

Crypto activity in Brazil increased sharply in 2025, with transaction volumes rising 43% year over year as average investment per user surpassed the $1,000 mark, according to a new market report from digital asset platform Mercado Bitcoin.

The findings suggest that Brazil’s crypto market is gradually moving beyond speculative trading, showing signs of more structured investment behavior and portfolio planning. Mercado Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in Latin America, said the data reflects a maturing investor base seeking diversification and lower-risk exposure to digital assets.

Market data points to broader participation

According to the report, titled “Raio-X do Investidor em Ativos Digitais 2025,” the average amount invested per user reached approximately 5,700 Brazilian reais, equivalent to more than $1,000. At the same time, nearly one in five investors allocated funds across multiple crypto assets, signaling a shift away from single-asset strategies.

Bitcoin remained the most actively traded digital asset on the platform, followed by the U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin USDT, Ether, and Solana. Stablecoins, in particular, saw notable growth, accounting for roughly three times more transactions compared with the previous year. Mercado Bitcoin attributed the trend to investors seeking lower volatility amid uncertain macroeconomic conditions.

Demand grows for lower-risk crypto products

The report also highlighted strong growth in products designed to offer lower risk. Digital fixed-income offerings, locally referred to as Renda Fixa Digital (RFD), recorded a 108% increase in investment volume during 2025. Mercado Bitcoin said it distributed approximately $325 million to investors through these products over the year.

Strategist Renato Eid noted that Bitcoin is increasingly being viewed as a distinct asset class with its own return profile. While acknowledging price volatility, he pointed to Bitcoin’s global and decentralized nature as a factor driving its use as a potential hedge in diversified portfolios.

Younger investors drive growth, regions expand

Investor demographics continued to evolve, with users aged 24 and under posting a 56% year-over-year increase in activity. However, Mercado Bitcoin said demand expanded across all age groups, including high-net-worth individuals and institutional participants.

Geographically, Brazil’s Southeast and South regions remained dominant in transaction volume, led by São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. At the same time, activity in Central-West and Northeast states increased, indicating broader geographic adoption of crypto assets.

Institutional perspectives gain traction

The report aligns with broader institutional views emerging in Brazil. Earlier this year, Itaú Asset Management advised investors to allocate between 1% and 3% of their portfolios to Bitcoin, citing geopolitical risks, shifting monetary policy, and currency volatility as factors supporting limited exposure to digital assets.
