Singapore-based stablecoin issuer StraitsX is preparing to expand its Singapore dollar and US dollar stablecoins to the Solana blockchain by early 2026, marking its latest move to tap faster, lower-cost settlement rails for payments and onchain finance.

The rollout will bring XSGD and XUSD to Solana through a collaboration with the Solana Foundation. StraitsX said the expansion is designed to support a growing range of use cases, including digital payments,

decentralized finance and emerging AI-native applications that require automated, high-frequency transactions.

Solana’s infrastructure has increasingly been used for x402-based payments, a standard that enables machine-to-machine transfers between software agents. StraitsX said integrating its stablecoins into that environment could unlock new forms of programmable money across commerce and financial services.

StraitsX targets payments, DeFi and AI-native use cases

StraitsX co-founder and CEO Tianwei Liu said launching both stablecoins on Solana would unify centralized exchange access, automated market maker liquidity, lending markets and everyday payments on a single high-performance chain. The company views the expansion as a step toward simplifying cross-border settlement while maintaining regulatory compliance.

The issuer has increasingly positioned its stablecoins as infrastructure for real-world use rather than purely crypto-native trading. Demand from digital commerce platforms and AI-driven systems has accelerated interest in blockchains that can process large volumes of low-cost transactions with minimal latency.

XSGD and XUSD already active across multiple blockchains

XSGD is already deployed across several networks, including Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, Arbitrum, Zilliqa, Hedera and the XRP Ledger. XUSD is currently live on Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain. Together, the two stablecoins have processed more than $18 billion in onchain transaction volume, according to StraitsX.

XSGD has a market capitalization of roughly $13 million, while XUSD stands at around $52 million. Both stablecoins natively support the x402 interoperability standard, which will carry over to Solana and enable onchain foreign exchange between SGD and USD, lending markets, liquidity pools and institutional payment flows.

StraitsX operates as a licensed Major Payment Institution under the Monetary Authority of Singapore and said both stablecoins have been acknowledged as compliant with the regulator’s upcoming stablecoin framework.

Grab explores stablecoin settlement with StraitsX

StraitsX’s Solana expansion follows a recent exploratory agreement with Grab, Southeast Asia’s largest super-app. The two companies are evaluating a Web3-enabled settlement layer that would integrate digital wallets, programmable payments and stablecoin clearing into consumer transactions across the region.

If approved by regulators, the system could allow Grab users to hold and spend XSGD and XUSD directly within the app, signaling how regulated stablecoins may increasingly move into everyday payments in Asia.
