Fintech giant Revolut has secured authorization under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), becoming one of the first major financial platforms to receive a license from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC).
The approval marks a major milestone for Revolut, allowing it to offer regulated crypto services across all 30 European Economic Area (EEA) markets, including countries such as Germany, France, Spain, and Italy.
“This authorization enables us to deliver groundbreaking crypto products with enhanced transparency and trust for our growing customer base,” said Costas Michael, CEO of Revolut Digital Assets Europe, in a statement shared with Cointelegraph. “It also reiterates our long-term commitment to crypto as a serious asset class.”
Revolut currently serves more than 65 million customers globally, including 40 million in Europe. The new MiCA license will allow the company to expand its regulated offerings in crypto trading, staking, stablecoins, and tokenized assets, ensuring compliance with one of the world’s most comprehensive digital asset frameworks.
Revolut’s “Crypto 2.0” Platform to Feature 280 Tokens and 22% APY Staking
Alongside the regulatory approval, Revolut unveiled its upcoming Crypto 2.0 platform, a next-generation ecosystem that will integrate over 280 cryptocurrencies, zero-fee staking with yields of up to 22% APY, and 1:1 stablecoin-to-USD conversions with no spreads.
“When combined with the Revolut Visa and Mastercard ecosystem, seamless on/off-ramping, and Revolut X’s low trading fees (ranging from 0.00% to 0.09%), the platform provides one of the broadest and most cost-effective crypto experiences available in Europe,” the company said.

The new platform builds on Revolut X, the company’s dedicated desktop crypto exchange launched last year for professional traders. Initially supporting 100 digital assets, Revolut X has since expanded across 30 EEA markets and now supports mobile access via the App Store and Google Play.
Revolut claims that more than 14 million of its customers are active crypto users, making it one of Europe’s largest gateways into digital assets.
Strategic Expansion Toward Institutional and Derivatives Markets
Revolut’s latest push also signals a shift toward institutional-grade crypto products. In June, a company spokesperson confirmed that Revolut is preparing to expand into crypto derivatives, potentially offering futures and options trading to professional clients.
The firm’s long-term roadmap also includes banking expansion in France, where it plans to invest over €1 billion ($1.1 billion) and apply for a local banking license to further strengthen its European footprint.
