Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, has announced a strategic partnership with Franklin Templeton, one of the United States’ leading investment management firms and a recognized pioneer in crypto ETFs. The collaboration aims to accelerate the tokenization of securities while building a global trading infrastructure to support the growing convergence of traditional finance and blockchain technology.

“Our goal is to take tokenization from concept to practice for clients to achieve efficiencies in settlement, collateral management, and portfolio construction at scale,” explained Roger Bayston, Franklin Templeton’s head of digital assets. Binance confirmed that it plans to introduce tokenized security products later this year, leveraging the expertise and regulatory experience of Franklin Templeton in the tokenization process.

Co-creating next-generation portfolios

Franklin Templeton executives emphasized that working alongside Binance opens the door to creating innovative investment products designed to meet the evolving demands of global capital markets. “By working with Binance, we can deliver breakthrough products that meet the requirements of global capital markets and co-create the portfolios of the future,” Bayston added.

Sandy Kaul, Franklin Templeton’s head of innovation, described tokenization as a technology that has shifted from the “fringes to the financial mainstream,” noting that it presents an opportunity to reimagine legacy financial systems rather than disrupt them. “By working with Binance, we can harness tokenization to bring institutional-grade solutions like our Benji Technology Platform to a wider set of investors and help bridge the worlds of traditional and decentralized finance,” Kaul said.

As part of the partnership, Franklin Templeton will bring its expertise in compliant tokenization of securities, while Binance will contribute its expansive global trading infrastructure and investor base. The initiative aims to deliver greater efficiency, transparency, and accessibility to capital markets while enabling competitive yield generation and settlement efficiency.

Binance and Franklin Templeton: financial powerhouses

At the time of the announcement, Binance handled around $22 billion in daily trading volume, far surpassing competitors such as CoinW and MEXC, which manage approximately $5 billion each, according to CoinGecko. Franklin Templeton, meanwhile, manages $1.64 trillion in assets as of August 2025 and is widely known for issuing one of the first spot Bitcoin ETFs in the United States in January 2024.

This collaboration underscores the rising momentum around tokenization, with more traditional financial giants entering the space. Earlier this week, Reuters reported that Nasdaq had invested $50 million into Gemini, the crypto exchange founded by the Winklevoss twins, which already offers tokenization products globally. Nasdaq also filed a proposal with the SEC to authorize listing tokenized stocks directly on its platform, signaling intensifying institutional interest.

The Binance–Franklin Templeton partnership is expected to be a landmark step in reshaping the global financial system, blending traditional securities with blockchain technology to enhance efficiency and investor access.
