A crypto trader has suggested that inflows into spot Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are likely to recover if Ether’s recent upward momentum continues. The comment comes as U.S.-based spot Ether ETFs posted four straight days of net outflows during the shortened trading week following the Labor Day holiday.
The string of outflows marks a sharp contrast to Ether’s performance in August, when spot ETFs linked to the asset recorded an impressive $3.87 billion in net inflows, according to data from Farside. Over the same period, Bitcoin ETFs actually saw net outflows of $751 million, underscoring a shift in investor preference toward Ethereum products.

September, however, has gotten off to a slower start. On Friday alone, Ether ETFs shed $446.8 million, capping off a week of withdrawals totaling $787.6 million. Bitcoin ETFs, in comparison, enjoyed $250.3 million in net inflows over the same four-day stretch, signaling a divergence in sentiment between the two leading cryptocurrencies.
The recent dip in ETF flows has coincided with a slight decline in Ether’s price, though some traders argue the pullback may be temporary. If Ether’s price rally resumes, analysts expect renewed interest in Ether ETFs to follow, potentially reversing the current trend.
ETH inflows could recover soon, traders suggest.
Several participants in the crypto market believe that the recent slowdown in Ether ETF activity may be temporary, with inflows expected to pick up again if Ethereum’s price momentum strengthens. Crypto trader Ted expressed confidence in a rebound, saying, “I’m expecting inflows to return if Ethereum continues this pump.”

Ether itself has seen a modest decline over the past week, slipping 2.92% to trade at $4,301 at the time of writing, according to data from CoinMarketCap. Despite the dip, many traders remain cautiously optimistic, arguing that the current pullback could be a short-term pause before another leg higher.
Broader sentiment across the crypto market has been mixed, with investors showing neither overwhelming fear nor enthusiasm. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index has hovered in “Neutral” territory for the past two days, reflecting a wait-and-see attitude among traders as they assess whether the next big move will be upward or downward.
Ether predictions stay bullish despite pullback
Despite the recent stretch of outflows from spot Ether ETFs, optimism around Ethereum’s long-term potential remains strong. Many prominent voices in the crypto space continue to double down on their bullish outlook, pointing to institutional adoption and whale accumulation as key drivers of future growth.
On Wednesday, BitMine chairman Tom Lee reiterated his bold prediction that Ether could eventually climb to $60,000. Speaking on the Medici Presents: Level Up podcast, Lee compared Wall Street’s growing embrace of Ethereum to a pivotal “1971 moment,” suggesting it could mark a structural turning point for the asset and push it significantly higher. BitMine itself is heavily invested in this vision; as the largest Ether treasury company, it holds roughly $8.04 billion worth of ETH. Across the board, Ether treasury firms now collectively control 2.97% of the total supply, valued at approximately $15.49 billion at the time of writing, according to StrategicETHReserve data.
Meanwhile, blockchain analytics firm Santiment has highlighted another bullish indicator: continued accumulation by large ETH holders. The platform reported that whales holding between 1,000 and 100,000 ETH—wallets valued between $4.31 million and $430.63 million—have been steadily increasing their holdings since Ether’s price fell to yearly lows in April. Over the past five months, these whale investors have added 14% more ETH to their wallets, a signal that deep-pocketed players remain confident in Ethereum’s long-term trajectory despite short-term volatility.
Together, the combination of strong institutional interest, active treasury accumulation, and whale buying suggests that Ether’s fundamentals remain solid, even as near-term ETF flows and price movements appear choppy.
