Digital asset infrastructure firm BitGo has expanded its support for Canton Coin by adding trading and onchain settlement services to its platform. The move marks a step toward building full-service infrastructure for tokenized assets, as financial institutions increasingly explore blockchain-based systems.

The update allows BitGo to offer custody, trading, and settlement for Canton Coin within a single platform, reflecting a broader trend toward integrated solutions in the digital asset space.

BITGO BUILDS FULL-SERVICE INFRASTRUCTURE FOR TOKENIZED ASSETS

BitGo said it is now among the first regulated providers in the United States to combine custody, over-the-counter (OTC) trading, and settlement services for Canton Coin. The company had initially introduced custody support for the asset in October, allowing institutions to securely hold it.

With the latest expansion, clients can trade Canton Coin either electronically or through BitGo’s OTC desk, similar to how traditional financial assets are handled in institutional markets. The addition of onchain settlement also enables transactions to be completed directly on the network, reducing reliance on external processes.

This integrated approach highlights how digital asset platforms are evolving to offer end-to-end solutions, making it easier for institutions to manage tokenized assets within a single system.

CANTON COIN GAINS TRACTION IN TOKENIZATION MARKET

Canton Coin has seen significant growth since late 2025, with its market capitalization approaching $6 billion, according to data from CoinMarketCap. The rise reflects increasing interest in tokenized financial assets and permissioned blockchain networks designed for regulated environments.

The token serves as the utility asset for the Canton Network, a layer-1 blockchain developed by Digital Asset. The network focuses on institutional use cases, offering features such as privacy and compliance that are important for regulated financial operations.

As tokenization continues to expand, platforms like Canton Network are being positioned as infrastructure for real-world financial applications.

INSTITUTIONAL INTEREST CONTINUES TO RISE

BitGo’s expansion comes at a time when institutional participation in crypto markets is growing. Several industry reports suggest that traditional financial players are becoming more active as regulatory clarity improves.

A report released by Coinbase in December indicated that institutional adoption may be approaching a key turning point, supported by developments in US legislation. Proposed laws such as the GENIUS Act and progress toward a broader crypto market structure framework are seen as potential catalysts.

Similarly, Binance Research noted earlier this year that institutional capital is playing a larger role in digital asset markets, with activity gradually shifting away from retail-driven trading.

The expansion of services like those offered by BitGo reflects this shift, as institutions seek infrastructure that supports trading, custody, and settlement in a regulated and efficient manner.
